Savar: Police on Monday arrested a BNP leader from Savar for posting caricatures of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Jatiya Party chairman Hussain Mohammad Ershad in Facebook.

The arrestee, Naeem Al Noman, is the president of Savar municipality ward 2 BNP unit.

Savar police officer-in-charge (OC) S M Kamruzzaman said police arrested Naeem after local people informed police about the caricatures in Facebook.

The OC also informed that police arrested another BNP leader from Aminbazar area for his involvement in giving illegal gas connections.

He is Hazrat Ali, Aminbazar ward 1 BNP president.

The two leaders were sent to court after cases had been filed against them, added the OC.
