Dhaka: Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam’s wife Sheila Islam died undergoing treatment at a London Hospital in local time early hours of Monday.

Sheila Islam breathed her last at University College London Hospital’s ICU unit at about 3:00am. Her daughter Rita Ashraf was beside her.

Syed Ashraf’s cousin Moinuzzaman Apu could not confirm NTV Online when the body would be brought back in Dhaka.

Earlier, the publice administration minister’s personal assistant AKM Sajjad Alam told NTV Online, Sheila Islam is now at ICU unit. Syed Ashraf, who is also a senior leader of Awami League, asked people to pray for his ailing wife.

Sheila Islam was suffering from cancer for a long time. Before visiting London, she also took her treatments and chemotherapies for cancer at a hospital in Germany. She was a former teacher of a London school.
