Five Sonali Bank officials arrested on graft charge

Dhaka: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday arrested five officials of Sonali Bank from Noakhali in a graft case.

ACC assistant director Md Moshiur Rahman arrested them from Maizdee area of Noakhali at about 12:30pm, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told news agency UNB.

The arrestees are deputy general manager of Sonali Bank's Kishoreganj office Mir Abdul Latif, superintendent engineer of the bank's head office (Motijheel) Md Samsudduha Nahad, senior officer of its Charbata branch (Noakhali) Zaker Ullah, cash officer of Feni Sadar Upazila complex branch MA Rahman and manager of Subarnachar branch Md Mustak Ahmad Siddique.

On April 17, 2016, the ACC filed a case against seven people, including the bank officials, with Sudaram Police Station of Noakhali for allegedly swindling out nearly Tk 2 crore from Sonali Bank's Noakhali branch by preparing fake documents.
