Chittagong: Two people were killed as an ambulance carrying patient involved in a road crash at Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong in the early hours of Thursday.

Several people were also injured during the accident.

The deceased are Akkas Mia, in his fifties, patient who was being taken to Chittaong, and driver Sanaul Haque.

The Kumira Highway police Officer-in-charge (OC) SM Jahangir said Akkas Mia, a cancer patient, was being carried to Chittagong from Dhaka by the ambulance. When the ambulance, carrying around six persons, neared Chhoto Dargahat area of Kumira a covered van hit it at about 6:00am and left the patient and driver killed on the spot.

The bodies were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
