3 engineers suspended for cutting Uttara Ganobhaban trees

Natore: The Housing and Public Works Ministry has suspended three engineers for their alleged irregularities in tree felling at Uttara Ganobhaban.
The three Public Works Department engineers are-executive engineer Moshiur Rahman Akand, deputy divisional engineer Ziaur Rahman and deputy assistant engineer Kamruzzaman.
A letter, signed by Housing and Public Works secretary Shahid Ullah reached the deputy commissioner’s office on Thursday evening.
The Ministry also asked to file a case against contractor Sohel Foysal.
Earlier, the authorities concerned of Uttara Ganobhaban sold some dead trees in an auction. But the contractor cut down 17 century-old trees with the dead one and took them away.
A probe committee was formed to look into the matter. After investigation, the probe committee found involvement of six people in the irregularities.
