JL leader’s house attacked, 7 hurt

Benapole: Seven people were injured as miscreants attacked house of a local Juba League (JL) leader at village of Shikda in Sharsha upazila, Benapole, on Wednesday night.
UNB reports, the injured are Sharsha union unit Juba League general secretary Rezaul Islam, his wife Aziman Nesa, sister Joytsna Akter, Sakhina Khatun, Abdul Khaleq, Milon Hossain, and Hafizur Rahman.
Rezaul said he had a row with some influential people as they had collected toll from some local people.
They extorted Tk7.00 lakh from several people of the area a few days ago, Rezaul added.
He protested the matter and informed it to a number of villagers which angered the extortionists.
The Sharsha police said a group of miscreants numbering around 50 suddenly attacked the house of Rezaul on Wednesday night.
The hoodlums swooped on Rezaul, his family members and neighbors, leaving seven people injured.
