Dhaka: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid urged the members of the E-9 forum to share their good examples and practices among themselves and beyond as a part of learning from each other.

Nahid made the call at a luncheon hosted on Wednesday for the Ministers and the Heads of the delegation of the E -9 countries who are participating in the ongoing 39th Session of the General Conference at the Unesco headquarters in Paris.

He also recalled the decision adopted during the E-9 Education Ministerial Level Meeting held in Dhaka in February this year, said a handout received here on Thursday.

The Education Ministers and the Head of the delegation from Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria and Pakistan attended the luncheon meeting.

‘The SDG-4 goals and targets will not be possible to achieve without the active cooperation of the E-9 countries, as these nine countries represent about 50% of the world’s population with a high rate of adult illiteracy, said Nahid.

In the meeting, the E-9 countries reiterated their commitment to work together in accomplishing their task as a single voice in line with Dhaka Declaration.

Nahid is leading the Bangladesh delegation in the Unesco General Conference which usually meets in every two years to finalise the programmes and budget of this organisation for next two years.

The Bangladesh delegation also includes Secretary to Secondary and Higher Education Division Sohorab Hossain, Additional Secretary Chowdhury Mufad Ahmed and secretary of Bangladesh National Commission for Unesco Md. Monjur Hossain.
