Edible oil prices fall by Tk 5 per litre

Dhaka: Bangladesh government has decided to bring down the prices of edible oil by Tk 5 a litre, said commerce minister Tofail Ahmed on Thursday.
The minister, after a joint meeting with Edible oil importers and refiners association, said the decision will be materialised from 16 January.
Tofail Ahmed said edible oil importer association requested the ministry to decrease the price by Tk 4 per litre.
However, edible oil importer association secretary Fazlur Rahman decided to decrease the oil price by Tk5 a litre, said the commerce minister.
He said the cooking oil prices are mainly controlled by the importers association.
Government thanked the association for bringing down the price of edible oil.
The meeting started at about 11:00am at the conference room of the ministry of commerce.
Several traders’ organisations and senior officials of the ministry were present during the meeting.
