Dhaka: Extramarital affair is the main reason behind the killing of a man and his daughter in the capital’s Badda area, said Mostak Ahmed, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Gulshan division.

Prime suspects Arjina Begum, wife of victim Jamil Sheikh and Shahin Mallik confessed to police that they had an extramarital affair and they killed Jamil and Nusrat in a planned way, he said while briefing reporters at the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media centre.

On Thursday, Jamil Sheikh, 38, and his daughter Nusrat Sheikh, 9, were found dead at their rented house at Moynarbagh in Badda area of the capital.

Police detained Jamil’s wife Arjina from the crime scene for interrogation.

Later, Shahin Mallik, 22, and his wife Masuma, 20, who were sublet tenants at the victim’s residence and fled the house after the murder, were arrested from Khulna on Friday.
