Fish trader hacked to death in Keraniganj
Keraniganj: A fish trader was hacked to death allegedly by extortionists in Kolatia area in Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka early Sunday.
The deceased is Salauddin, about 38 years old, son of Alan, a resident of Khanakandi area of Kolatia.
Shah Alam, in-charge of Kolatia outpost under Keraniganj Model Police Station, said some local stalkers have demanded Tk five lakh from Salauddin as extortion.
Following his refusal to meet up their demand, the extortionists called him around 12:00 am making a false alarm that fish from his farm is being looted.
When Salauddin reached near his farm, they started hacking him indiscriminately, leaving him injured critically.
Later, the injured was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 2am where he succumbed to his injuries around 7am.
Salauddin returned home from Oman two years back and then established a fishing farm in Khankandi area, said the police officer.
