Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Sunday sentenced two men to death for killing a class VIII student in the capital's Demra area in 2014.

The condemned convicts are- Shahjahan Hossain and Billal Chaprashi.

According to the prosecution, Md Hasan Ali, son of Anwar Hossain and a student of Cambridge High School in Demra, was kidnapped on July 10, 2014 and the kidnappers demanded TK 50,000 as ransom.

Later, his father filed a general diary on July 13 with Demra Police Station.

Victim's father Anwar also gave the ransom money but the kidnappers did not release his son.

After 12 days, the family members recovered his sliced body from a sack near their residence.

Later, police arrested the two in connection with the murder and submitted charge sheet against them on November 18, 2014.

After examining all the records and witnesses, Abdullah Al Mamun, judge of additional sessions judge court-8, handed down the verdict.
