MP Rana’s petition to cancel lower court order rejected

Dhaka: The High Court on Tuesday rejected a petition filed by Awami League lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana seeking cancellation of a lower court order that framed charges against Rana and 13 others in the murder case of freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed.
A two-member HC bench of Shawkat Hossain and Justice Nazrul Islam passed the order mentioning that the petition was ‘not presented’ at the court.
Earlier, on September 9, the Tangail Court framed charges against Rana and 13 others in the murder case of Faruk Ahmed.
Faruk Ahmed, a senior AL leader and a freedom fighter, was shot dead in the district town of Tangail on January 18, 2013.
In February 2016, detectives pressed charges against 14 people, including the ruling party MP and his three brothers in the murder case.
