BNP leaders, activists throng Suhrawardy Udyan
Dhaka: Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have reached Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka for holding rally marking the National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
Leader and activists of BNP have been gathering at the venue since Sunday morning.
During the rally, Chairperson Khaleda Zia will send out an important message to party rank and file about the next polls and the party's 'ongoing movement for restoration' of people's democratic rights.
The party senior leader have already held a series of meetings with its different units, front and associated bodies and leaders of different districts adjacent to the capital for ensuring the 'huge presence' of party leaders and activists and thus demonstrate its 'popularity'.
BNP activists are entering into the Suhrawardy Udyan in procession brought out from Shahbagh, Kakrail, Khamarbari, TSC intersection, Fishery Building, Dowel Square, Palashi areas.
Moreover, leaders and activists across the country reached Dhaka for joining the rally. Meanwhile, reported transport crisis hit Dhaka and other regions of country ahead of the rally.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir visited the rally venuw at about 12:00noon. He asked the party’s activist to take discipline position during the rally.
He also asked the male activists for not to mix up with the female activists during the gathering.
The activities of rally started at about 10:00am and the main rally will begin at about 2:00pm. The rally will kick off with recitation of Holy Quran.
BNP chief Khaleda Zia will reach the venue at about 3:00pm and will address the rally as the chief guest at about 4:00pm.
She last addressed a rally at the same venue nearly four years back on January 20, 2014, 15 days after the 10th parliamentary polls, while a public rally at Nayapaltan on January 5, 2016.
On Friday last, BNP announced to hold the rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan on Wednesday marking what it said the civil-military 'uprising on November 7, 1975'.
Later, the party deferred it to Sunday for various reasons.
