Kishoreganj: ‘We never dreamt of clinch victory by casting fake votes or committing electoral fraud. We never practise ballot stuffing at any election, whatever it is upazila polls or municipal polls,’ said Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, also the public administration minister, on Saturday.
Addressing an activists’ rally organised by Kishoreganj Awami League in district Shilpakala academy auditorium, he said people voted for AL as they were satisfied with the ruling party’s incessant development activities.
He hoped that forthcoming union council elections, going to be held on party basis for the first time in Bangladesh, would be free and fair just like municipal elections held countrywide recently.
The rally was addressed, among others, by Kishoreganj district Awami League acting president Kamrul Ahsan Shahjahan, local member of parliament Dilara Begum, deputy commissioner Zillur Rahman, district Awami League acting general secretary MA Afzal and municipal mayor Parvez Mia.
