Journalist held with arms, ammo in Mymensingh

Mymensingh: A journalist and his associate were held with arms and ammunition from Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) industrial area in Mymensingh early on Sunday.
The Mymensingh detective branch (DB) officer-in-charge Imarat Hossain Gazi said the journalist is Sheikh Mohammad Hassan Nadim, managing editor of Daily Jahan.
DB said acting on a tip off, police conducted a drive at Nadim’s residence and recovered a huge amount of arms at about 2:00am.
During the raid, police seized three foreign pistols, 15 bullets, three butts of Chinese rifles, nine samurai swords, 2 briefcase arm-making materials, huge amount of drugs, and acid.
Imarat Hossain Gazi said the detainees claimed themselves as arms traders.
DB also discovered a mini arms factory at the ground floor of Nadim’s residence, said the officer-in-charge.
