Dhaka: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday said the recent incidents of murder and disappearance don't demonstrate deterioration in law and order situation of Bangladesh.

"I don't think the recent murder and disappearance incidents indicate slide in law and order situation," the Minister said while talking to reporters after inaugurating a morgue at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College & Hospital in the city.

When asked about the disappearances of NSU teacher Mubashar Hossain and journalist Utpal Das, Khan said these types of incidents also happened in the past. "Most of those who had disappeared in the past have already come back. I hope, they (Mubashar and Utpal) will also come back soon," he added.

Replying to a query over the attack on the houses of Hindu community in Rangpur district, the Minister said the mobile phone set of Titu Chandra Roy will be examined.

If anything suspicious is found, actions will be taken against him, the Home boss warned.

Recently, privately-run North South University teacher Mubashar Hossain and journalist Utpal Das have got disappeared while a private university student was stabbed to death at Madhya Badda and a recruiting agency owner was gunned down at Banani in the city.

Theses incidents have sparked off countrywide criticisms.
