Faridpur: A drug addict man allegedly strangled his father and slit the throat with a sharp weapon at Nakulhati village in Saltha upazila early Wednesday.

Quoting locals, police said Kalu Mollah, about 28 years old, also an alleged drug trader, used to share room with his father Wahed Mollah, about 75 years old.

Hearing a scream from their house around 2:30 am, neighbours rushed in and found blood-tainted body of Wahed lying on the floor.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue in the morning. Police later detained Kalu.

During primary interrogation, Kalu confessed his guilt, said Delwar Hossian, officer-in-charge of Saltha Police Station.
