Brahmanbaria: Police detained a man for questioning over the killing of women affairs secretary of Nabinagar upazila Awami League.

Police said Jahangir, diver of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, was detained from Bhangora area of the upazila on Wednesday night.

Amir Hossian, brother of the deceased, filed a case with Nabinagar Police Station against some unnamed people.

Earlier on Wednesday, the women affairs secretary of Nabinagar upazila Awami League, Swapna Akhter, was killed in an attack by miscreants while she was returning home at Chairpara by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw after attending a party programme.

The body was taken to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospitral morgue for autopsy on Thursday morning.
