Narayanganj: The task of investigation into the case over the killing of five members of a family has been transferred to the Detective Branch of police.

DB inspector Md Khayer has been made the investigation officer of the case, Narayanganj superintendent of police Khandaker Muhid Uddin told reporters on Monday.

Meanwhile, Mahfuz, nephew of complainant of the case Shafiqul Islam, was shown arrested in the case. Police arrested Mahfuz on Sunday and produced him before the court on Mondnay seeking ten days for quizzing, reports UNB.

Khandaker Muhid Uddin said the motive behind the killings will be unearthed soon and criminals will be arrested as progress has been made in its investigation.

The five members of the family were killed by unidentified miscreants at Baburail on Saturday night.

The deceased were indentified as, Taslima Begum, 35, wife of Shafiqul Islam, a private car driver in capital Dhaka, their children Sumaiya, 5, Shantu, 10, Taslima’s brother Morshedul, 22, and Lamia, 25, who was married to Shafiqul’s brother Sharif.
