Panchagarh:  Two motorcycle riders were killed as a bus knocked down their vehicle in Pradaner Haat area on the Debiganj-Nilphamari Road in Debiganj upazila, Pamchagarh on Tuesday morning.

The deceased are Rezaul Islam Swapan, assistant agriculture officer of Domar upazila, from Gaibandha, and Jakirul Islam Mahan, a resident of Sonahar Pradnpara area of the upazila.

Rahimul Islam Bulbul, Sonahar union parishad chairman, said the accident took place in the area at about 7:00am when the Debiganj-bound bus from Dhaka Mayer Anchal paribahan hit the motorcycle, leaving duo dead on the spot.

Following the accident, agitated locals torched the bus.

Police and firefighters went to the spot.
