Dhaka:  Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad will hold a press conference on Tuesday on the current leadership crisis of the party.

The former president will hold a press conference at the party’s Banani office in the afternoon, said Jatiya Party presidium member and Ershad’s press secretary Sunil Shuvo Roy.

The Jatiya Party Chairman will be shortened his five-day visit in Rangpur and will arrive in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon.

Ershad went to Nilphamari Airport from Rangpur district circuit house at about 10:00am.

Earlier, on 17 January, during his visit in Rangpur, Ershad announced the name of GM Quader, his younger brother, as the party’s co-chairman.

He said, ‘Golam Quader, my younger brother, will take the charge of presidency in my absence.’ He also said that the party’s constitution will be amended in this regard in next council.

He came up with the announcement at a press conference at the party.

However, a party faction on 19 January, announced party chairman HM Ershad’s wife Raushan Ershad as the its acting chairman.

Party secretary general Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu came up with the announcement at a press conference at Raushan’s Baridhara residence in the city.
