Dhaka: The nation is celebrating the recognition of the historic 7th March speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a world documentary heritage.

To celebrate the great achievement, joyous processions involving people of all classes and professions as well as government and private organisations were brought out across the country in the morning.

A grand procession, led by Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, was brought out from Bangabandhu’s residence at Dhanmondi Road-32.

The procession marched towards Suhrawardy Udyan from the residence where Bangabandhu delivered the landmark speech in a mammoth gathering on March 7, 1971.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address a grand rally as the chief guest at Suhrawardy Udyan at 3pm.

The celebration programmes have been taken to inform people, particularly the students and future generations, about the national and international significance of the Bangabandhu’s March 7 speech.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) on October 30 recognised the Bangabandhu’s historic March 7 as part of world’s documentary heritage.
