N’ganj 5-murder: Another on 5-day police custody

Narayanganj: A court in Narayanganj on Tuesday granted police five days to quiz Nazma Akter, who was arrested in connection with the killing of five members of a family at Baburail in Narayanganj city on Saturday.
Judicial Magistrate Ashek Imam passed the order when police produced her before the court seeking a seven days for quizzing her.
Mamunur Rashid Mondal, officer-in-charge of district Detective Branch of police, said Nazma Akter was arrested on early Monday.
On 16 January, five members of the family were killed by unidentified miscreants at Baburail in the city.
The deceased were identified as Taslima Begum, 35, wife of Shafiqul Islam, a private car driver in capital Dhaka, their children Sumaiya, 5, Shantu, 10, Taslima’s brother Morshedul, 22, and Lamia, 25, who was married to Shafiqul’s brother Sharif.
On Sunday, Shafiqul Islam, filed a case accusing three people with Sadar Model Police Station.
Meanwhile, Mahfuz, nephew of the complainant, was placed on police custody for seven days on Monday over the gruesome murders.
Police had also detained Sharif, husband of victim Lamia, for interrogation after the incident.
Mokhlesur Rahman, additional superintendent of police (crime) said, ‘We’ve got enough evidence and clues in connection with the five murders. We hope we will be able to unearth the mystery very soon.’
