3 ‘JMB men’ placed in police custody again in Ctg
Chittagong: A court in Chittagong on Tuesday granted police fresh five days to quiz three students of Chittagong University suspected of being members of banned militant group Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in two cases.
Judicial Magistrate Mosaddeque Minhaz passed the order after police produced them before the court seeking 10 days to quiz each of them.
Those remanded are Naimur Rahman Nayan, Faisal Mahmud and Shawkat Russell.
On 26 December, police arrested Nayan from Kazir Deury while Faisal from Nalapara and Shawkat from Cosmopolitan area of the district.
On the following day, sub-inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police filed two cases against the three suspected JMB men under arms and explosive substances acts.
Later, the trio was put on police custody for five days in one case.
On 29 December, Chittagong University authorities expelled the three students for their alleged link to the banned militant outfit.
Of them, Naimur Rahman Nayan was a fourth-year student of Physics department, and Faisal Mahmud and Shawkat Russell were master’s degree students of the department.
