Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday paid rich tributes to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq, who passed away at a London hospital on Thursday, visiting his house.

‘The Prime Minister went to Annisul Huq’s Banani residence around 2:45pm and paid her deep homage to him,’ PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said.

A heart-rending scene was created when the Prime Minister reached the residence of the late mayor, he said.

Family members of the deceased, including his wife, son and daughters, broke into tears at that time.

She talked to Annisul Huq’s family members and consoled them.

Sheikh Hasina also joined a munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed soul.

Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Annisul’s brother and Army Chief General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq and senior leaders of Awami League were present on the occasion.

Annisul Huq breathed his last at a London hospital around 4:23 pm (London time) on Thursday.
