Cleaners’ noble way to pay homage to late mayor Annisul
Dhaka: There couldn’t have been, probably, a better way to show the last respect to a leader who fought from the forefront and inspired his colleagues to do good jobs all along.
A day after Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq was laid to rest at the city’s Banani graveyard, all the cleaners under the DNCC worked an hour extra than their daily routine on Sunday. This is their way of paying homage to the late mayor.
The DNCC Mayor Annisul, also a successful businessman and popular television programme host, breathed his last at the Wellington Hospital in London on Thursday at the age of 65.
Around 3000 cleaners have been working to keep the North Dhaka city clean every day. They usually start their work at around 5:30 am and continue till 11:00 am, said DNCC Public Relation Officer ASM Mamun.
On Sunday, however, they (Cleaners) voluntarily worked for an additional hour till midday showing respect to the departed soul of the late DNCC mayor, he said.
