PM to open int’l literature event in Jan, 2018
Dhaka: A three-day long ‘International Bengali Literature Conference’ will begin on January 13 of 2018 at Bangla Academy.
Organizers informed the media about the conference at a press brief held on Sunday in the Academy’s Shamsur Rahman seminar room.
International Bangla Literature Conference Organiser Parishad will arrange the literature conference with the collaboration with Nikhil Bharat Banga Sahittya Sammylan and Friends of Bangladesh, reports the UNB.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the conference as chief guest on January 13 while immediate past Indian President Pranab Mukhjerjee will grace the closing ceremony as chief guest on January 15.
Some 300 litterateurs will attend in the conference across the world while books translated in different languages and little magazines will be exhibited for sale on the academy premises.
The conference will feature six seminars, two stage performances, musical event, film show, and storytelling and recitation events.
The 201 member organising committee was formed to arrange the event while finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhit and cultural affairs minister Asaduzaman Noor works as the key patron and chief advisor respectively.
The organizing parishad chief and Bangla Academy President, Prof Anisuzzaman, joint-convener Shamsuzzaman Khan, chief coordinator Nasir Uddin Yusuf Bachchu, joint chief coordinator Jayanato Gosh, international communication coordinator A S M Shamsul Arefin, seminar coordinator Prof Muhammad Samad, event coordinator Hasan Arif, joint event coordinator Mandira Ganguly, publication secretary Tarik Sujat, joint publication secretary Dr. Ramlal Bashu were present in the press conference.
