AL rally at Sylhet Alia Madrasah Ground begins

Sylhet:  A public rally organised jointly by Sylhet district and city units of Awami League at Alia Madrasah Ground in Sylhet began on Thursday morning.

The rally started with a recitation from the holy Quran by Kazi Mohammad Mujahidul Islam and presentation from holy Geeta at about 2:00pm.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the rally as the chief guest.

Leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliated bodies have been gathered at the venue with banner and festoons since 11:00am.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached Sylhet on Thursday morning on a day-long tour to join the diamond jubilee function of Madan Mohan College and to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of 22 development schemes.

The Prime Minister reached the MAG Osmani International Airport from Dhaka by an Air Force helicopter at about 11:55am.

The Prime Minister joined the diamond jubilee function of Madan Mohan College in the city at about 1:15pm.

Sheikh Hasina also offered prayers at the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA).
