Dhaka: Four people were awarded death sentences and two others with life term imprisonment in connection with Md Rana murder case on Tuesday.

The Judge of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-4, Abdur Rahman Sardar, passed the order this morning.

All the death row convicts Md Masud Ali, Al Amin alias Alam, Md Jahangir Hossain and Md Shafiqul Islam Robin are absconding.

The lifers Md Babla and Md Manir Hossain were also fined Tk 20,000, failure of which would translate into one more year of imprisonment.

On January 9, 2009, the three-wheeler worker was slaughtered to death by his co-workers over the distribution of extorted money at Staff Quarter field of Demra in Jatrabari.

The following day, sub-inspector Abul Kalam Azad filed a murder case with Demra Police Station over the killing.
