Shirhan Sherif Tomal, Ishwardi upazila Juba League president and son of Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif, has been expelled from the organisation over the attack on journalists in Rooppur of Pabna on November 29.

The Juba League central committee took the action against him on Wednesday night for breaching the organisation discipline and his involvement in terrorist activities, said Abu Mohammad Nasim Pavel, Jubo League organising secretary for Rajshahi division, reports the UNB.

On November 29 last, Tomal and his accomplices allegedly beat four journalists while they were on duty in Rooppur. Later, a case was filed against Tomal in this connection.

Fifteen days after the incident, he surrendered before a court here on Wednesday, seeking bail in the case.

However, the court sent him to jail rejecting his bail petition.
