17 chargesheeted in Japan expat Rejaul murder case

Savar: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Sunday submitted a chargesheet against 17 people, including the prime accused local AL leader Ershad, in connection with Japan expatriate Rejaul Karim Raja murder case in Savar.

Ten other accused were exempted from the charges.

CID inspector Shamim Hasan Talukdar submitted the chargesheet after a long investigation.

The chargesheeted accused are - Ershadur Rahman Ershad, Md Sujon, Atabar alias Shipon, Israfil alias Isha, Md Ripon, Raju Ahmed alias Raju, Firoz Mia alias Rumu, Raihan, Akbar Ali, Majidur Rahman Majid, Nazrul Islam, Amir Hamza alias Hamza, Habibullah, Sirajul Islam alias Shiron, Shipon alias Shipa, Khokon and Atikur Rahman alias Jiban.

Raja initially received injury and later died at a local hospital after Ershad along with his aides attacked Raja and his cousin brothers with locally-made weapons on April 12, 2016 in Savar.

According to sources, there was a dispute between Raja and Ershad over land ownership.
