Police arrested a young man from Bagerhat town on early Tuesday in a case filed over the attack on the daughter of female lawmaker Happy Boral.

The arrestee is Al Mamun, 26, son of Mujibar Rahman of Gabardia area in Sadar upazila, reports the UNB.

Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Mahtab Uddin said they were interrogating the suspect.

Earlier on Sunday, Happy Boral filed the case with Bagerhat Model Police Station accusing unidentified miscreants over the incident.

Aditi Boral, 26, daughter of Happy Boral and resident of Shaltola area of the town, was stabbed by a youth around 6:30pm on December 16 while she was returning home after attending a Victory Day programme at Amlapara High School ground.

With this, she came under attack twice in seven months.

Happy Boral said some miscreants attacked her daughter on May 23 last while she was sleeping in the house but law enforcers remained clueless as they could not arrest anyone in this connection.

Her husband, former Awami League leader Kalidas Boral, was shot dead by miscreants on August 20, 2000.
