Dhaka: A total of 20 eminent personalities have been given honorary award for their contribution in their respective fields.

Canvas of Bangladesh, a socio-cultural organisation, gave the awards to the nominated persons at a programme titled ‘46 years of victory: Achievement and expectation’ held at the National Press Club on Friday.

Meanwhile, a drawing contest for the children was held following the programme.

The awardees are — freedom fighter Shahjahan Ali, Managing Director of Dhaka City Physiotherapy Hospital Nooren Durdana Epa, wildlife writer Alam Shahin, Managing Director of Haque Group of Industries Adam Tamizi Haque‏, Bangladesh Supreme Court Lawyer ABM Bayojit, Managing Director of WAC Bangladesh Rifat Hossain, Senior Sub-Editor of Amader Shomoy and writer Aditya Arut, Advocate Mohsin Choudhury, Associate Professor of Central International Medical College Dr Azizur Rahman, Senior Sub-Editor of Bangladesh Protidin and online in-charge of the daily Shamsul Haque Rasel, Chief News Editor of Jamuna Television Fahim Ahmed, Head of NTV Online Khandaker Fakaruddin Ahmed Jewel, CEO of e-soft Ariful Hasan Apu, Ahsan Ullah Khan Nipu, Lion Club of Dhaka Capital’s Secretary Lion Shakhayt Ullah Amzad, Mayor of Meherpur Municipality Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Director of Amin Mohammad Group Ramzanul Haque Nihad, local President of KCI Dhaka Young Azahar Mahmud and founder of Joyjatra Academy KM Nurullah Hasan.

Shashoti Mathin, Newsroom Editor of NTV Online, received the crest at the programme on behalf of Head of NTV Online Khandaker Fakaruddin Ahmed Jewel, who had been nominated for his outstanding contribution to online journalism.
