Dhaka: Chairman of the newly formed political alliance, Juktafront, AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Monday urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to meet the demand of primary school teachers.

He also urged the government not to undermine their justified movement for a pay-scale upgrade.

B Chowdhury, also a former President, came up with the remarks after expressing solidarity with the government primary school assistant teachers who had been on a hunger strike at the Central Shaheed Minar since Saturday.

The teachers, however, called off their strike unto death on Monday evening following Primary and Mass Education Minister’s assurance of meeting their demand.

B Chowdhury said the country now lacks a responsible government as the current regime is not elected with people’s votes.

‘Thousands of crores of Taka have been plundered from banks, but the Finance Minister hasn’t quit. The Education Minister also hasn’t resigned even after admitting that he is a thief. Even Bangabandhu’s daughter (PM) doesn’t remove anyone.’

Juktafront leaders ASM Rob, Mahmudur Rahman Manna and Abdul Malek Ratan also spoke at the programme and they urged the government to accept the teachers’ demand immediately.
