Narsingdi: Local people blocked the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Kararchar area of Shibpur upazila in Narsingdi on Thursday morning following a road accident that killed a woman and her minor son.

Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Narsingdi Highway Police, said the woman and her minor son were killed and at least eight people injured when a wrecker hit a utility vehicle used for public transport on the highway around 8:00am.

The deceased’s identity could not be known immediately.

Following the accident, the angry locals torched the wrecker and blocked the highway.

Vehicular movement came to halt for two hours on the highway.

On information, police moved to the spot and brought the situation under control around 10:20am.
