Dhaka: Awami League has served show-cause notices to the party leaders who took part in the recently concluded municipality polls as independent candidates.

The notices have been served for defying the party decisions and asked them to reply within 15-day to the party chief's political office at Dhanmondi in Dhaka, reports BSS.

A press release of Awami League on Sunday said that the divisional organising secretaries, in-charge, have been asked to submit reports within 15 days who directly or indirectly worked in favour of independent candidates in the polls.

The decision was taken at a meeting between AL joint-general secretaries and organising secretaries at the AL President's political office at Dhanmondi here.

Chaired by AL Presidium Member Obaidul Quader, the meeting was joined by AL Joint General Secretaries Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organising Secretaries Ahmad Hossain, Misbahuddin Siraj, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, and Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap and Deputy Office Secretary Mrinal Kanti Das.
