Flight operations suspended for 7.5 hours due to dense fog

Dhaka: All flight operations were suspended at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital for seven and half hours today due to heavy fog.
‘We’re forced to suspended flight operations due to dense fog from 2:45am to 10:11am,’ said Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) spokesperson AKM Rezaul Karim.
During the period, he said, two Air Arabia flights from Sharja and one Bangladesh Biman international flights were diverted to Kolkata while one Bangladesh Biman flight from Dubai and one US Bangla Airlines flights from Kuala Lampur were diverted to Chittagong.
Besides, another US-Bangla flight from Kuala Lumpur was diverted to Mandalay of Myanmar due to the suspension.
Karim said the domestic flight operation was resumed at 10:11am while international flights at 10:35am.
Due to the flight operation suspension, one Biman Bangladesh flight to Kolkata and one Regent Airways flight to Bangkok were delayed.
Apart from international flights, 10 early morning domestic flight—4 of Novoair, 3 of US Bangla Airlines, 2 of Bangladesh Biman and one of Regent Airways were delayed due to fog.
As per the weather forecast, moderate to thick fog may occur over the country in the next few days.
