Mozahar Ali Pradhan, former BNP MP from Joypurhat-1 constituency and also Joypurhat district’s unit president, passed away at a hospital here on Friday afternoon. He was 69.

The BNP leader, who had long been suffering from kidney ailments and diabetics, was taken to Joypurhat Adhunik Sadar Hospital in the afternoon as he fell ill and he was declared dead on arrival, reports the UNB.

He left behind two wives, three sons, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

Mozahar was elected MP from Joypurhat-1 constituency in 2008.  He was also the president of Joypurhat BNP since 1997.

The BNP leader will be buried at his family graveyard in the district town after Namaz-e-Janaza at Joypurhat Collectorate Ground around 2 pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed their profound shock at his death.

They prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed their sympathy to the bereaved family members.
