Four people were killed in separate road accidents in Gopalganj, Panchagarh and Sirajganj.

In Gopalganj: A woman and a bus driver were killed and at least 10 people were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Gonapara area of Sadar upazila early Monday.

The deceased are Mala Begum, about 35 years old, wife of Sobhan, a resident of Morelganj upazila in Bagerhat and the bus driver Sheikh Shahon, about 48 years old, son of Sheikh Kabir, a resident of Bogail village in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur district.

The accident took place around 1:30 am when the Khulna-bound ‘Banaful Paribahan’ bus collided with the electric wire-laden truck, leaving the duo dead on the spot and ten other bus passengers injured, said Shawkat Hossain, sub-inspector of Sadar upazila.

The injured was admitted to Gopalganj General Hospital.

In Panchagarh: A bicyclist was crushed under the wheels of a truck on Noyadighi-Panchagarh road in Bamanhat area of Boda upazila on Sunday night.

The deceased is Yunus Ali, about 35 years old, son of Kurban Ali of Boalmari village of the upazila.

The accident took place at night as the truck hit the bicycle ridden by Yunus while he was returning home, leaving him dead on the spot, said Abul Kalam Azad, chairman of Benghari Banagram Union Parishad.

Later, locals seized the truck but the driver and helper managed to flee the scene. 

In Sirajganj: A man was killed and another injured in a road accident at Bautara in Sadar upazila on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased is Abdur Rashid, about 55 years old, a surveyor of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).

According to eyewitness, Rashid was going to Sadar upazila parishad along with master Rafiqul Islam of the department riding a motorcycle after visiting project in Saidabad union.

A truck coming from the opposite director hit the bike near Bautara Bailey Bridge around 5pm.

Under the impact of the collision, both the riders fell beneath the bridge.

Locals rescued them and took them to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital where the duty doctor declared Rashid dead.
