Bill stipulating service tenure of defence forces chiefs

The Defence Forces Chiefs’ (appointment, salary, allowances and other benefits) Bill 2018 was placed in the Parliament aimed at fixing the maximum tenure of the chiefs’ of three defence services of the country.
Law Minister Anisul Huq placed the Bill on Tuesday and it was sent to the Parliamentary Standing Committee for further scrutiny. The Committee was asked to submit its report within 15 days, reports the UNB.
As per the proposed law, the chiefs of army, navy and air force would be appointed for maximum four-year tenure from the date of their appointment.
As per the new proposal, salary of the chiefs of the services has been fixed at Tk 86,000.
They will get other allowances, outfit allowance, special residential facilities and all-time transport facilities plus other allowances.
