Dhaka: Shariful Huq, father of Chief of Bangladesh Army General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq and former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Annisul Huq, passed away at a hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday morning. He was 96.

He breathed his last at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) around 11:20am, said Rezaul Karim, assistant director of InterServices Public Relations (ISPR).

Shariful Huq was suffering from old age complications for a long, he added.
