Mohammad Javed Patwari, Special Branch Additional Inspector general (IG), has been named as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) by replacing AKM Shahidul Hoque after about four years.

Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday morning issued a notification announcing Javed Patwari as the new chief of Bangladesh police.

The gazette notification, signed by Mohammad Ilias Hossain, deputy secretary (police) of Home Ministry, will be effective from January 31 as incumbent IGP Shahidul’s tenure will expire on the day.
