Dhaka: Members of Rapid Action Battalion in a drive arrested seven suspected muggers from Mohammadpur area in the city on Wednesday night.

The arrestees are as Md Shahidul Islam, hailing from Ramganj upazila of Laxmipur, Md Rahman, hailing from Kamrangir Char, Md Sujon, Md Tosif, Md Abdur Rahman, Md Sayed and Md Saju, residents of Geneva Camp of Mohamamdpur.

Tipped-off that a gang of muggers was taking preparation to commit mugging on Gaznobi road in Mohammadpur, a team of Rab-2 conducted a drive there around 7:30pm and arrested the seven muggers along with locally made weapons, said Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Firoj Kawser, assistant director (media) of Rab-2.

Three knives and a mobile hand set were sized from the detainee’s possession, he added.
