Dhaka: Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) central president Rajib Ahsan has been released from jail on bail after six months of his arrest from Patuakhali.

Rajib walked out of the Dhaka Central Jail on Wednesday night after his bail order reached the jail authorities.

Leaders and activists of JCD, BNP’s student body, received him at the jail gate with flowers.

Later, he went to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office and met her.

On 19 July, law enforcers arrested Rajib and his five associates allegedly with 45 Yaba pills and a bottle of liquor in a car at Lebukhali Ferryghat in Dumki, Patuakhali.

However, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and ex-JCD leaders alleged that the information of recovering drug from Rajib is nothing but a pre-planed drama. They said the government arrested Rajib as part of its evil plan to weaken the opposition.

Rajib was freed as he secured bails in all the 47 cases filed against him, said a JCD press release.
