The teachers and students of English department of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia formed a human chain protesting the attack on the university’s vice-chancellor Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, also a teacher of the department, on Saturday.

The human chain was formed in front of the university’s Art’s Faculty building led by the department’s chairman Professor Dr AHM Akhtarul Islam Zillu around 11:00am, reports the UNB.

Around one hundred teachers and students of the department, including IU Pro-VC Professor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Professor Dr M Mizanur Rahman, Professor Dr M Maher Ali, Professor Dr M Shahadat Hossain Azad, Associate Professor M Sabbir Ahmed and Assistant Professor Sazzad Zahid, took part in the human chain.

While addressing the human chain, IU Pro-VC Professor M Shahinoor Rahman demanded punishment of the culprits who attacked the vice-chancellor.
