Rangpur: A Rangpur court on Thursday sentenced three people to death and another to life imprisonment for killing vegetable vendor Abu Siddique in Pirgachha, Rangpur in 1993.

The condemned convicts are Noor Mohammad, Abdul and Farhad of Chhota Kalyani village in Pirgachha while the lifer is Abdus Sattar.

According to the prosecution, Abu Siddique, son of Azim Uddin of the same village, did not return home after the convicts called him out of his house on 2 October 1993.

Police recovered his body from a paddy field adjacent to the house on 3 October.

Victim’s father Azim filed a case with Pirgachha Police Station in this connection.

Police submitted a charge sheet against the four people to a court.

After examining witnesses and documents, Judge of the Additional District and Session’s Judge Court Abu Mohammad Kamruzzaman handed down the verdict.
