Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina met President Md Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Thursday night.

‘The Prime Minister arrived at Bangabhaban around 8:04pm,’ said President’s press secretary Joynul Abedin, reports the UNB.

During the meeting, he said, the Prime Minister informed the President about his nomination by the Awami League Parliamentary Board as the Awami League candidate to contest the presidential election slated for February 18.

She also handed over a letter to him to this end.

Sheikh Hasina congratulated Abdul Hamid on being nominated for the president post for the second term.

In reply, the President expressed his gratitude to the chief of Awami League Parliamentary Board, Sheikh Hasina, for nominating him for the president post.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Law Minister Anisul Huq and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister M Nojibur Rahman were present.
