Sylhet: Five people, including four members of a family, were killed and 20 people injured following head-on a collision between a bus and a private car on the Sunmaganj-Sylhet Highway in Pagla area of Dakkhin Sunamganj upazila in Sylhet on Wednesday morning. 

The deceased are Abdus Shahid, in his seventies, his wife Hafsanul Begum, in his sixties, their son Kabir Ahmed, around 40 years old, daughter Afsunnesa, in his thirties, and driver Sabbir Miah, residents of Birpur village in Chukerbazar union under Jalalabad Police Station. 

Jakir Hossain, sub-inspector of Dakkhin Sunamganj Police Station, said the Sylhet-bound bus collided with the Sunamganj-bound private car around 12:00pm, leaving four passengers of the private car dead on the spot and the driver critically injured. 

Later, the injured driver died on the way to hospital. 

On information, police recovered the bodies.
