Dhaka: Law enforcers have taken highest security measures in and around the central Shaheed Minar to ensure smooth observance of International Mother Language Day on February 21, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah.

‘There is no specific threat and no one will be allowed to create any anarchy,’ he said while talking to reporters after visiting the security arrangements at the Shaheed Mimar area.

The entire area would be brought under CCTV surveillance and four layers of security have been arranged to ensure peaceful observance of Amar Ekushey, he said.

‘There will be archways in all entry and check points of the Shaheed Minar. Besides plainclothes cops and patrolling teams would be deployed in and around the Shaheed Minar,’ he added.

Police will restrict movement inside Dhaka University campus from 6:00pm on February 20 onwards, the commissioner added.

All except VIPs will have to enter the Central Shaheed Minar through Azimpur Road, Palashi crossing and Fuller Road.

People can go to Shaheed Minar through the road in front of Home Economics College and Eden College via Azimpur crossing and Palashi crossing. People from Chankharpul area can go to the Shaheed Minar through Bakshibazar crossing, Palashi crossing and the road in front of Jagannath Hall.

After placing wreaths at the Shaheed Minar, people will leave the place using road in front of the university playground, Doyel intersection and Chankharpul.
