Don’t follow lawyers’ advices, Nasim to Khaleda Zia
Dhaka: Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Monday asked BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia not to follow the advices of her lawyers, saying she will have to remain in jail for many years if she abides by those.
‘I would like to request Begum Zia not to pay any heed to the lawyers’ suggestions. If you do this, you’ll have to remain in jail for many years,’ he said participating in the general discussion on the thanksgiving motion on the President speech in the House, reports the UNB.
Nasim said Khaleda Zia lost her Cantonment house following her lawyers’ advices and they also kept her outside Parliament giving her suggestions.
He said Awami League does not want that Khaleda remains in jail. ‘Why will we want so? We want to play the game in the field (to contest the election with all parties) … The final game will be in December,’ he added.
Noting that Awami League does not want to score in an empty field, the minister said the election will be held in line with the constitution and all will have to participate in it. ‘If we go beyond the constitution, it’ll create anarchy and political vacuum in the country. We won’t go for any further experiment,’ he said.
Jasod MP Moin Uddin Khan Badal claimed the country’s people remain with the government. ‘If we can go to people with a polite approach, they’ll give us mandate for more time,’ he said.
Talking about the Rohingya issue, Badal said it will be difficult for Bangladesh to maintain friendly relations with Myanmar despite many efforts. ‘We’ll have to be more cautious about Myanmar. We’ll have to know the depth about them and we’ll have to study in this regard.’
